How Electric Vehicles Penetrating the Intracity Transportation Segment

The Intracity Transportation segment in India has an impact role on the transportation sector. And Intracity Transportation is operated by commercial vehicles, which are differentiated into various categories. For example, for the last mile delivery segment, there are trucks, mini trucks, pickups, tempo travellers and 3-wheelers. But now, things are changing, and electric vehicles are coming into the scene. Multiple segment companies provide high specifications vehicles for better working and output. So, in this blog, we gonna talk about how electric vehicles are changing the face of intracity transportation.

Why Electric Vehicles are Preferred for Intracity Transportation:-

Electric vehicles are becoming a large part of the transportation segment. Moreover, transporters are using these electric vehicles in city transportation. The main reason behind using electric vehicles is that they are low in maintenance and can carry medium-weight capacity.

Also, the vehicles have a good range on a single charge which can run a whole day. The battery of these vehicles can get a full charge in a maximum of 3 to 4 hours and doesn’t have a very large electricity consumption. The vehicles also have high gradeability, making driving on the inclines easy.

The reason to prefer electric vehicles is that they can be driven easily, and anyone can drive them. In addition, they are manufactured with gearless transmission and powered with motors and batteries. These things make the vehicle less weight and machinery.

Applications Which Electric Vehicle Serves:-

The last-mile delivery and passenger carrier is increasing day by day, and with this, pollution is also becoming a greater threat. And the reason is the use of conventional vehicles inside the city. The basic principle of vehicles depicts that if a vehicle starts and stops again and again, it will not give you a good performance.

Conventional vehicles are built to provide transportation on long routes. So what can Electric vehicles be for?

Here we will talk about the applications which electric vehicles can serve and are currently coming in use. So let’s dig into the operational structure of commercial electric vehicles.

1. E-Commerce Deliveries:-

The network of E-Commerce companies is getting bigger and bigger with time, and the delivery services are also increasing. As a result, these companies are becoming the reason for high pollution. Now these companies are adapting and shifting to electric vehicles for cargo deliveries. Many companies, like Amazon, Big Basket, Flipkart, etc., are taking part in this. In addition, the manufacturers have also created a huge portfolio of electric vehicles.

But one of the most trusted products of this segment is Piaggio Ape E-Xtra which comes with a 506 kg of payload capacity.

2. Passenger Carrier Vehicle for Intracity Travel:-

The passenger carrier segment is one of the biggest markets in India and has a huge network. Moreover, the benefit is it will never see any recession or downfall. Prior to that time, there were Auto Rickshaws in the market and buses too, but nowadays, both vehicles are built on electric technology. There are 3-wheelers and E-Rickshaws in the market; moreover, passengers prefer these vehicles over conventionally fueled ones. The reason is they are affordable, and the engine’s noise is not there, making the travel good in all manners.

The government is implementing electric buses as the city travel and providing subsidies for electric vehicles.

3. The Transportation Works:-

When we talk about transportation works then, we see it consists of many things. From delivering milk to supplying LPG cylinders to households, everything includes in it. The sector is very big and important for the economy. The electric vehicles, which come with a range of 80 KM on a single charge, can do a lot of work by charging twice a day.

These vehicles are built with heavy metallic bodies allowing them to carry a high payload for all applications. The current situation of these vehicles is very positive as they are increasing in numbers. In addition, it is working in a good direction for the transporters and the sector.

4. Food Delivery Services:-

Food delivery applications are experiencing a huge hike in their services, and the drivers are now adapting to electric vehicles. Even some companies that provide vehicles to their delivery executives are now providing electric vehicles. These two-wheelers are light and can take the load and comes with excess loading space as they do not have any engines. The space utilisation of the vehicles comes with the perfect blend of high-powered batteries powering their whole day.

Conclusion:-

The last-mile delivery segment is increasing rapidly and will expand more in the future. But, as we all know, conventional fuel will not last long, and we must look for other options. Electric vehicles are one of the best options that we have to plan everything in the future. But, of course, we can’t say they are totally green as the electricity charging these vehicles still creates pollution.

Electric vehicles are coming into use in daily life along with conventional fuels. Apart from this, some alternate fuels, like LPG, LNG and Hydrogen, are also available, which also cause zero or very few emissions. In addition, the brand is focusing on vehicles based on alternative fuels. The reason behind all this is the scheme of the Indian government to reduce tailpipe emissions to zero in the next 30 years. And the brands are following the steps of the government.
