Scrum provides a robust framework that enables organizations to attain project objectives in an organized manner. Scrum Masters are an important part of any project or organization as they help design the framework. Many people who want to pursue a career as a Scrum Master develop a keen interest in knowing the difference between a SAFe® Scrum Master and a SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master.
Several businesses around the world are rapidly adopting Scrum and looking for qualified and trained Scrum Masters. This is one of the main reasons to consider Scrum Master certification.
SAFe® Scrum Master—Roles and Responsibilities
He or she is an individual who has completed the SAFe® Scrum Master certification. A SAFe® Scrum Master focuses on the basics of Scrum at the team level. He or she also explores the role of Scrum in the enterprise context. He is a servant leader who assists teams in reaching their goals through continuous coaching, mentoring, and seamless information facilitation.
The Scrum Master is tasked with keeping the team focused and informed of the tasks that must be accomplished in the required timeframe. In addition, when addressing SAFe®, the Scrum Master is required to interact with multiple teams, such as the product management and portfolio management teams, along with other release trains, to ensure alignment. The role entails supporting team and program-level events in order to ensure successful program execution.
SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master – Roles and Responsibilities

A SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master pursues a leadership role in making Agile programs, teams, and enterprises successful in a SAFe® environment. The SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master online training enables practicing Scrum Masters in an organization to build on the strong foundation that they already have and learn how to coach Agile teams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to deliver business value and achieve success.
A SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master has the leadership, coaching, and facilitation skills to work effectively with teams in remote environments. He knows how to apply SAFe®, Scrum, Lean, and DevOps principles to improve the team and business outcomes. He is able to apply the SAFe® principles to facilitate coaching and mentoring in a multi-team environment.
